Six Ukrainian hat brands, from classic to daring

Yellow Blue has put together a selection of Ukrainian hat brands. It includes models starting at $18 as well as luxury hats worn by Madonna, Rihanna, and Beyoncé. Some of these hats are available on international online platforms, while others can be ordered directly from Ukraine.

Ruslan Baginskiy Hats & Accessories

About the business. A luxury handmade hat brand founded by designer Ruslan Baginskiy. He has no formal education in fashion design and learned how to make hats while working at one of the ateliers in Lviv.

Baginskiy created his first original designs in 2011 by reinterpreting Ukrainian headwear from the 20th century. In 2015, he launched his own brand, and the following year opened a showroom in Kyiv.

In 2017, models Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber appeared in photos wearing Ruslan Baginskiy hats, followed by singer Madonna in 2018. Since then, the brand’s headwear has been sold on leading global luxury fashion platforms, including Net-A-Porter and Farfetch.

Ruslan Baginskiy hats are also worn by Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Sabrina Carpenter, as well as members of the K-pop groups BTS and BLACKPINK. They also appeared in the series “Emily in Paris,” where they were worn by actresses Lily Collins and Ashley Park.

In 2025, Baginskiy opened store at one of Paris' most famous department stores, Galeries Lafayette, and in 2026 he opened his own showroom in New York.

What they offer. A wide selection of headwear in different styles, including the signature Baker Boy Cap and Boater Hat with decorative chains. The website and showrooms also offer bags and bag accessories, fragrances, knitted hats, scarves and gloves, as well as glass and metal pendants and earrings.

KAZVAN HATS

About the business. founded in 2018 by designer Anastasiia Kazvan. The brand is aimed at “the young at heart” who enjoy experimenting with style, as well as models and performers. For example, Ukrainian singer Leléka, who represented Ukraine at Eurovision 2026, wore a feather hat by KAZVAN in one of her photo shoots.

The brand releases small collections and creates custom-made hats. The shape and texture of the headwear can be chosen, and decorative elements and embroidered patterns can be added. KAZVAN sews exclusively with biodegradable materials such as sheep’s wool and also reuses fabrics for its products, including denim from jeans.

What they offer. Daring headwear in a variety of styles, from burlesque-inspired designs to refined classics. There is also a bridal collection featuring hats and veils embroidered with traditional Ukrainian protective symbols. In addition to headwear, they also offer silk scarves and women’s corsets.

Shmelevsky

About the business. A brand founded in 2017 by brothers Stanislav and Vladyslav Shmelevsky from . During the first days of Russia’s , Russian troops entered the city, leaving Stanislav under occupation. A few months later, he managed to join his brother in Kyiv and bring with him the sketches for the Spring 2022 collection. The finished hats the brothers had made shortly before the full-scale war remained in Melitopol.

In Kyiv, they rebuilt their production from scratch by making their own tools and purchasing the necessary materials. In October 2022, they fully resumed operations. The brothers compare hat making to sculpture because every piece is crafted entirely by hand, without using the that are traditionally used to shape classic hats.

What they offer. Minimalist designs with a focus on form. All hats are made to order.

TwinS Style

About the business. A brand founded by sisters Kateryna and Olena Palianychko, who in 2016 continued their great grandfather’s family craft. He was a hat maker who created original custom headwear. TwinS Style uses natural, environmentally friendly materials that retain their shape over time, including , wool, and combinations of straw and silk. The artisans create products under their own brand as well as for collections by other Ukrainian fashion brands.

What they offer. A collection of straw hats in various shapes, along with berets and caps. Most designs are available in several sizes and colors.

S-cape

About the business. A brand of bright and practical outerwear and travel accessories founded in 2015 by Oksana Sventakh and Natalia Aleksievych. S-cape’s nylon bucket hats have a water- and dirt-repellent coating, while its fleece balaclavas can be adjusted for a snug fit around the face, keeping out the wind.

What they offer. A collection of vibrant headwear with geometric prints, including bucket hats inspired by Ukrainian nature, from the ancient forests of the Carpathians to the blue of the mountain rivers and the sands of . S-cape also offers a winter collection of insulated bucket hats with reflective elements to help keep pedestrians safe during hours of darkness.

Shapelie

About the business. A design studio founded in 2005 by Svitlana Patsaliuk and Natalia Kokovikhina. Shapelie specializes in hats and caps made from felt and natural straw. The brand’s designers create classic styles as well as custom-made pieces. The hats are decorated with hand embroidery, beads, lace, metal buckles, ribbons, or artificial flowers.

What they offer. Hats, berets, captain’s caps, and caps for every season. The brand also has ethnic collections featuring headwear embroidered with traditional Ukrainian ornaments.
