The Ukrainian sweets market is dynamically developing: their production combines high-quality ingredients, strict state control, and modern trends. The main trend is sweets made from organic products and without added sugar, although classic flavors also remain popular.

Sofiia Korotunenko, a journalist at YB, has curated a selection of 12 Ukrainian sweets brands—from sugar-free and allergen-free to traditional ones with various fillings. Bob Snail

About the manufacturer. A brand of natural fruit and berry snacks founded in 2016 by Yevhen Shuhayev and Mykhailo Siverchuk. The sweets contain no added sugar, gluten, dyes, or preservatives.

In 10 years, the brand has become an international corporation with subsidiaries in Poland, Canada, the USA, and the UK. Bob Snail products are represented in 39 countries worldwide—in Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia.

What’s on offer. Bob Snail makes over 187 items: fruit rolls and pastilles, marmalade, candies covered in Belgian chocolate, smoothies, baby purees, and lactose-free desserts on coconut cream.

Sisters A. Chocolate

About the manufacturer. A craft business founded in 2020 by sisters Olena Golodenko and Oleksandra Osypova. They prepared the first bars of chocolate in their home kitchen; later, they rented a workshop where they worked together until 2022. Today, seven people work at Sisters A. Chocolate. They prepare chocolate in a full-cycle production. Chefs roast the beans, crush and winnow them, grind them into a mass, add coconut sugar, knead, and melt and cool the chocolate several times so that it is shiny and snaps when eaten. For packaging, the brand uses recyclable materials.

The company buys the rare Fino de Aroma bean variety, known for its refined taste and smell. The sweets contain organic ingredients: cocoa beans, cocoa butter, cane or coconut sugar, and natural additions like nuts and fruits. Sisters A. Chocolate does not use vanillin, sugar substitutes, or refined sugars.

In December 2024, Sisters A. Chocolate won a gold and five silver awards at the Academy of Chocolate international competition in London, which honors producers of high-quality and exquisite chocolate.

What’s on offer. Over 20 types of chocolate. This includes classic dark and filled chocolates (e.g., with salt, chili pepper, or orange), vegan milk and white chocolate with fruits and berries, as well as chocolate-nut pastes, drinking chocolate, candies, and an alcohol line. For the latter, the beans are aged in whiskey or rum, then dried so the alcohol evaporates while the drink's taste and aroma remain. The brand also offers tasting sets priced from $16 to $68.

LOL&POP

About the manufacturer. LOL&POP was created in 2013 by spouses Alona and Dmytro Tokar. All sweets are handmade with natural ingredients, using natural plant extracts instead of dyes. Before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the entrepreneurs exported sweets to the USA; now, they sell them in 350 stores of the Japanese chain .

What’s on offer. Marshmallows and jellies with various flavors, toffee candies, and lollipops with unusual designs. For example, maracas with sprinkles between layers of that make noise when you shake the lollipop.

Honest

About the manufacturer. Honest was opened by Alona Pasichnyk in 2019. She creates vegan dark, milk, and white chocolate from natural ingredients, without refined sugar, lactose, or animal products. Probiotics—food supplements beneficial for the digestive and immune systems—are added to it. Honest chocolates are moderately sweet, allowing you to taste the rich filling of nuts or sublimated berries and fruits. In addition to chocolate, Honest produces two types of protein cookies: chocolate and honey.

What’s on offer. Protein cookies, themed chocolate figures like snowflakes, chocolate bars with various flavors, such as white chocolate with buckwheat tea or matcha. Honest has two sets in gift boxes: the 9 most popular flavors for $23 and 15 bars of your choice for $40.

Cheesesweets

About the manufacturer. These are craft cheese candies that entrepreneur Oleg Soloviov has been making since 2019. They are based on 19 types of cheeses with nuts, dried fruits, and spices, dipped in white or dark chocolate. Candies contain no sugar, preservatives, sweeteners, or flavor enhancers.

What’s on offer. Sets of 6–18 candies, costing $14–$41. You can choose which candies are included in the box.

Smakuli

About the manufacturer. Ruslana Rymarska founded the family company Budmo Zdorovi in 2016. Production, logistics, and distribution are coordinated by her parents, Nadiia and Yurii. Under the Smakuli trademark, they sell sweets without gluten, lactose, preservatives, or palm oil. The recipes are based on Ruslana's grandmother's cookbook. In 2022, the company opened a representative office in Poland, and since 2025, it has been selling treats in the German retail chain .

What’s on offer. Snacks made from sublimated berry smoothies and several types of cookies. These include gluten-free cookies with various fillings, buckwheat or corn-based snacks that can serve as a bread alternative, and cookies with probiotics in various flavors like coconut, vanilla, and chocolate. From every package sold, the brand donates 10% of the profit to charitable projects for children with special needs.

Classic Sweets

Lviv Handmade Chocolate

About the manufacturer. The workshop was created in 2008 by spouses Natalia and Volodymyr Dubovyi. At the start, Natalia prepared the sweets herself, making up to 4,000 signature pralines overnight. She created most of the recipes and flavor combinations.

Today, the network includes over 50 locations across Ukraine and four in Azerbaijan. These are classic coffee shops with a counter where you can buy sweets to go. All treats are handmade using natural ingredients. Production is located in Lviv and follows a full cycle: from cocoa beans to chocolate bars or candies.

What’s on offer. Chocolate by weight and in bars, candies, and chocolate figures sold individually, as well as gift sets ranging from $17 to $128.

Honey and Zavertailo

About the manufacturer. Anna and Stas Zavertailo started their own business in 2008 by installing 15 coffee machines with high-quality Arabica in Kyiv. Over the following years, their network expanded with new coffee machines, fresh bars, a burger joint, and mini-coffeeshops operating in business centers.

Since 2014, the couple has specialized in unique desserts. Currently, they manage four locations: three Honey patisseries and two Zavertailo bakeries, which have seating areas for visitors. They also supply their desserts to other coffee shops in the capital and to the large Ukrainian supermarket chain Silpo.

What’s on offer. At Zavertailo, you can purchase various sweet pastries and bread. Honey offers a wide selection of desserts with interesting flavor combinations in the fillings: pastries, cakes, eclairs, croissants, macarons, chocolates, and candies. Some cakes have unusual shapes, such as plates with dumplings (varenyky) or Kyiv chestnuts.

Among the products that can be stored for over six months are freeze-dried ice cream, caramel, chocolate pastes, jams, craft lemonades, kombucha, and . Honey also sells gift sets featuring chocolate bunnies, macarons, eclairs, and chocolate bars.

About the manufacturer. A craft chocolate production founded in 2016 by Aleksis Antsiunas, Vitalii Ivanov, and Anton Ruban. The company purchases ready-made raw materials and additives to create chocolate sold in the premium segment of Ukrainian supermarkets and deli shops. Spell creates classic combinations, such as chocolate with nuts or salted caramel, as well as unusual flavors like candies with filling.

What’s on offer. Various types of chocolate bars, candies, and caramels with unusual flavors, including camembert. The company offers personalized gifts created according to the buyer's description, as well as ready-made gift sets with candies, chocolates, and caramel. Sets cost from $13 to $307, with the most expensive ones including products from brand partners, such as alcoholic beverages.

Meetty

About the manufacturer. The brand was founded by brothers Oleksiy and Dmytro Kolchanov in 2013. In a full-cycle production, they prepare chocolate bars with traditional flavors—dark and milk—as well as unusual combinations like coffee with cinnamon, cheese, and rose with grapes. The chocolate packaging is decorated with illustrations by Ukrainian artists who integrated elements of Ukrainian culture into the design, such as traditional embroidery patterns or fairy tale characters.

In 2024, Oleksii was mobilized into the Kyiv territorial defense volunteer unit Mriya, which protects the capital from Russian kamikaze drones—he combines service with the business. That same year, Meetty won two awards at the international Academy of Chocolate competition in London for its dark chocolate bars.

Candy Coupp

About the manufacturer. A craft chocolate candy business founded in 2020 by Gelena Letavska and her daughter Kateryna. They create all products themselves: designing, pouring chocolate layers into molds, adding fillings, hand-painting the finished candies, and packaging them.

What’s on offer. Gift sets of white, milk, and dark chocolate candies with various fillings: nuts, caramel, or berries. All candies are united by a common theme. About the manufacturer. (TSUM) in Kyiv regularly presents exclusive collections of sweets in beautiful gift boxes. These can include marmalade and marzipan candies, pralines with dried fruits or nuts, chocolate-covered fruits, and chocolate bars.
