Marina Kovalchuk

Literary Editor

I was born in the Dnipropetrovsk region and lived in Kyiv from the age of 16 until the full-scale war began in 2022.

I’ve been a journalist since school, where I wrote essays, fiction, and news articles. After graduating from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, I built my career as an editor, working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Kyiv City Council, the Verkhovna Rada, Novy Channel, Nashe Radio, UATV, and Pryamyi TV Channel. My articles have also been featured in Bukvy, Newssky.com.ua, and the European project Sestry.

I have a deep love for the Ukrainian language and see it as a living entity that grows, evolves, and perfects itself over time. I am grateful to my university professors for teaching me how to distinguish between authentic and distorted words and for showing me the lasting harm Soviet rule inflicted on our language.

Through this project, I am committed to preserving and defending the authenticity of the Ukrainian language.
